M4796.  State Criminal Police (Staatliche Kriminalpolizei) ID Disc.  These quality discs (State Criminal Police) were always struck in bronze.  Here is some info credited to Don Bible, the well-respected authority on these discs, "These discs came out in 1937.  The new discs which were created by Himmler's decree, were of three types. One was die-struck in a silver-colored metal, for the secret state police (Gestapo). The reverse side carried the wording "Geheime Staatspolizei", and an officer's police identification number. A disc was minted in bronze for the state criminal police. It carried the wording "Staatliche Kriminalpolizei", and the officer's number. The third type discs struck were for the local or communal criminal detectives. They were minted from a very high iron content metal (magnetic) and were then plated or anodized with a brownish or copper-colored surface which wore away rather quickly, leaving them usually a mixed grayish-brown color, after some use. This disc carried the wording "Gemeindekriminalpolizei", and an ID number for the officer. All German police warrant discs were normally carried on a chain, which was not covered by the regulations. It was the officers choice.".  This fine example shows surface oxidation.  See pictures...$  2200.00 (Pictures)

M5139.   1934 EIN NAZI FÄHRT NACH PALÄSTINA (A Nazi Travels to Palestine) UND ERZÄHLT DAVON IM Angriff (And tells about it in Angriff) Medal by Lauer of Nuremberg.  In the spring of 1933 SS member Baron Leopold Von Mildenstein, (he would a few years later become head of the Jewish section of the SD) together with his wife and Kurt Tuchler, also with his wife, of The Zionist Federation of Germany, spent six months travelling Palestine.  The Zionists proposed that the status of German Jews be regulated on a group basis, and asked for government help towards emigration. Von Mildenstein was approached to write something favorable about Zionism and its project in Palestine, and agreed on the condition that he could make a visit and he did accompanied by Tuchler. He was favorably impressed, and saw advantages for Germany, as well as for the SS as proposers of a policy.  A series of articles entitled "Ein Nazi faehrt nach Palestina" began in September 1934 in Der Angriff , Goebbels' newspaper. It ran for twelve parts. Von Mildenstein saw in the Jewish settlement on the land a form of rebirth fitting Nazi notions about blood and soil, as well as a way of ridding Germany of Jews. But life was difficult in Palestine, and problems were looming, in Palestinian Arab resistance to Zionist colonization and British rule.  The newspaper Der Angriff  had this medal struck to commemorate his voyage to Palestine and to promote the series of articles.  This is a rare original and I have recently seen reproductions with incorrect details appearing on internet auctions but they have lettering and details that are wrong.  It is interesting to note that Von Mildenstein brought Eichmann into the Jewish Department.  See pictures...$  1200.00 (Pictures)

M6063.  Knight's Cross Document to Herbert Ewert- Afrikakorps.  Oberst Ewert earned his Knight's Cross as Commander of Panzergrenadier-Regiment 104 in Africa.  I have copies of his file from the National Archives.  The translation of his recommendation signed and approved by Rommel and Keitel from the era reads as follows, "On 1 Jul 1942, after reaching the stone track from El Alamein to Qattara, the division was ordered to thrust on Alam Nayil, with the object of cutting off a strong force of enemy known to be occupying the fortified Alamein Line positions at Qaret el Abd and farther south.  In the course of this thrust the division was to push eastwards past the enemy at Deir el Shein.  Col. Ewert, moving at the head of his regiment, reached the area NE of Deir el Shein under continuous fire from the east and SW.  He then observed an enemy strong point at Deir el Shein , strongly constructed and occupied much larger and extending farther east than had been realized.  Col Ewert immediately realized that the division's task could not be accomplished by a wide swing to the east, because in that direction was another fortification flanking the advance.  He therefore decided, without halting his regiment, to storm the Deir el Shein strong point.  This bold decision led to a complete success by the division.  The leading troops of the regiment, led by Col. Ewert in person, quickly penetrated the position, in spite of mines, wire and stiff opposition.  In the course of the day the strong point was captured after fierce hand-to hand fighting.  About 1300 PW, 25 guns, 16 A TK guns, 2 SP guns, 67 MT and a large number of A Tk rifles, MGs and mortars were captured.  This was the first strong point of the Alamein Line to fall into German hands...".  See pictures...$  Price on Request (Pictures)

In an atmosphere of rising anti-German sentiment, the Bund’s outspokenness against prohibition, its stance for neutrality during World War I, and its support of Germany, especially its practice of raising money for German war relief, led to its charter being revoked in 1918, following a Senate investigation. Congress passed a bill to revoke the charter in July, and President Wilson signed the measure into law on August 31.  See pictures...$  800.00 (Pictures)

M6521.  Defense Economy Leader Badge - Wehrwirtschaftsführer Abzeichen with Matching Stickpin.  This badge was instituted in 1939 and awarded to industrialists who made important contributions towards the war effort with some notable awardees being aircraft designer Claude Dornier, aircraft designer Kurt Tank, arms manufacturer Alfred Krupp, aircraft manufacturer Ernst Heinkel, Fritz Walther, designer of the PPK, etc.  In 1938, Goring set up a Council for Defense Economy.  Its members were chosen from the leading industrialists in Germany with each member having the title “Defence Economy Leader”.  The Council had the responsibility of preparing and carrying out mobilization of the armaments industry and directing it in time of war and each industrialist had to submit a “declaration of political attitude” where he pledged loyalty to the state.  The badge was instituted in March 1939 to recognize the members of the Council and to single out industrial leaders above middle management level who contributed significantly to the furtherance of industrial management.  Recommendation for the award had to come from the Kreis in which the proposed recipient worked and had to be approved by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht.  It is not known how many were awarded but it is believed to be very few.  Cupal example.  See pictures...$  1200.00 (Pictures) JUST IN

M6747.   Cased 1934 EIN NAZI FÄHRT NACH PALÄSTINA (A Nazi Travels to Palestine) UND ERZÄHLT DAVON IM Angriff (And tells about it in Angriff) Medal by Lauer of Nuremberg. See pictures...$  1800.00 (Pictures) JUST IN

M6877.  Cased German American National Bund Honor Prize for New York State.  Hallmarked "F.S." on the rim, 4.1cm diameter.  The National German-American Alliance - Deutschamerikanischer National-Bund, was a federation of ethnic German associations in the United States founded in Philadelphia on October 6, 1901, whose mission was to "promote and preserve German culture in America", and at the peak of its growth, around 1916, had a membership of approximately 2.5 million people. See pictures...$  500.00 (Pictures) JUST IN

M6887.  German Cross in Gold by "20" Zimmermann.  Excellent cupal example showing light use.  "Cupal" is a metal that the Germans made of layered/pressed copper and aluminum that was then plated with the desired finish such as silver.  I have had my fair share of these over many years but I am always happy every time I get one to offer for sale as these are one of the most impressive German combat awards of the era being really well made of multiple pieces, then factor in the enamel work and gold plating and silvering.  See pictures...$  2200.00 (Pictures) JUST IN SOLD pending payment (c)

M6897.  1940 Luftwaffe Flak Battery Baerwald Medal.  Luftwaffe units as well as Army and Naval, would at times have medals struck to commemorate anniversaries of the units or other events and these medals are fairly scarce.  I ran a translation on the text on the reverse of this one and it roughly reads as follows, "on land and sea by day and night the bombs fall on, the faithful guard does not hesitate and never wavers, the proud first sperr battery".  This unit (sperrbatterie) was an anti aircraft artillery unit "placed in such a way to block off access to a harbor".  3.8cm diameter.  See pictures...$  350.00 (Pictures) JUST IN

M6898.  Cased 1939 DAF KDF Honor Plaque.  This was awarded by the KDF group Gau Kurhessen as a prize for an exhibit at Kassel.  Artist signed H.
