M3479. Mother's Cross, Bronze Grade, with Original Tissue, From Deschler Hoard, Mint. Great looking Mother's Cross, Bronze Grade, with Original Tissue, From Deschler Hoard, Mint. The "Deschler Hoard" was when a number of un-issued medals were found in the attic of the Deschler factory a few years back with part of the items in mint condition and part showing damage from what appears to be insect and water damage. Many of these items have been absorbed into the collector market by now and I was able to cherry pick a few of the choicest pieces but also held in hand some of the items that had received storage damage. M3704. NSKK Wahlhilfsdienst 10. April 1938 Plebiscite Emergency Services Arm Shield. This NSKK Wahlhilfsdienst 10. April 1938 "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer!" Plebiscite Emergency Services Arm Shield was worn during the Plebiscite held in Austria on April 10, 1938 to confirm that country's union with Germany. Austria's annexation by Germany is more commonly known as "The Anschluss" and a plebiscite was held to show that the people of Austria approved this annexation or political union. I believe that over 98 percent of the Austrian voters approved the referendum. At this time German troops were already in Austria, entering the country earlier in the year, on March 12th, on orders of Hitler. This piece is made of silver/gray finished plastic by Richard Sieper & Sohne of Ludenscheid, which was one of the few companies in Germany that did produce badges in this medium at that time. The NSKK reference by Angolia and Littlejohn states that this piece is a vehicle plaque for election assistants and this may have as well been worn on an armband. Great looking Third Reich Lifesaving Medal in Original Deluxe Red Leatherette Presentation Case marked to the Prussian Mint which was also the maker of the medal with the medal being 4.9cm in diameter and this example being purchased from the vet by my friend. If you have had cased examples of these before you probably know that they usually come in plain dark-blue presentation cases that are likely extra stock from the Weimar Era with this being the first such example that I have encountered with this deluxe red leatherette case with the gold-embossed eagle.
